Discover Couturious

Established in November 2005 by the artist Debra Bean.

After graduating from Central Saint Martins school of Art where she studied sculpture from 2002-2005, Debra felt that she wanted to expand her art practice into industrial production.

Whilst studying she won several scholarships, one of which was a digital printing prize which lead her to experiment with both photographic representations of her handbag sculptures and repeated patterns of her drawings. The result of which can be seen in her wallpaper collections handbag and bird. In April 2005 a devastating house fire took most of her original artwork from her she decided to focus exclusively on installations using reproduced pattern designs. The chandelier motif was symbolic of the devastation of her fire and its shadows form the traces of where objects once were.
